Why I ignore big fires to chase small wins πŸ˜…

When the tech stack is on fire and every stakeholder is screaming for something different, I am a low-hanging fruits kind of gal.

Forgot about eating the frog or setting a timer for the Pomodoro method or any of those other "top tips for productivity" nonsense.

I like to find a small task to knock. The inconsequential to most folks, probably pointless in the grand scheme of things kind of task.

The kind of task that makes me feel like I am the queen on the mountain because I actually completed something (anything!) from start to finish in one session.

Because in Marketing Operations, motivation is so important. Our teams can so often get bogged down in endless email chains with support, head-spinning meetings about the exact same thing week after week, integrations that just refuse to work, etc.

Tackling small problems cuts through this molasses. It generates momentum. And as well know, an object in motion stays in motion.

Progress, even on small tasks in small corners of the tech stack, encourages more progress and that in turn creates the momentum to slowly chip away at the big, complex projects on our plate.

So go ahead and fix that silly little thing no one will appreciate but you and like one other person on your team.

Bask in the glory of your victory.

And then go figure out why the heck the tech stack is on fire for the third time this month.

See you next week,

🫢🏽 Alysha
