5 kinda sorta relevant thoughts before a go-live

I have a migration go-live in 5 days on Friday.

So here's 5 thoughts that have been pinging around my brain over the last week.

  1. My toddler thinks unicorns are called donkeys (I blame his uncle) but to me, this has the same vibes as buying Marketo and then only using it to send emails.
  2. Proof of concepts are more important than we give them credit for. Let's try building out the nurture audience BEFORE we write all the nurture copy so we know if the juice is worth the squeeze.
  3. Make sure your project plan includes buffer for none of the technology to cooperate when the documentation and support swear up and down that it should absolutely be doing the thing it is not doing.
  4. When someone does not follow your directions, make sure your directions actually say what you think you were trying to say before you blame the other person.
  5. I hate migrations with a burning passion but alas, I don't think any consultant ever gets away with avoiding them forever.

See you next week (and pray for me in the meantime),
